bullet Solution Oriented Creative Counselling favors empowerment, which facilitates individuals making decisions for themselves. Click the buttons above to read the short articles by Linda S. Engelman.
bullet With Solution Oriented Creative Counselling you gain a deeper, broader awareness of yourself, sensing for the first time in a long while, feelings and experiences you may have forgotten or avoided. As you gain awareness, you reclaim lost parts of yourself. You bring more of yourself forward to be seen and heard maybe for the first time. There is also the opportunity to understand your experiences in a new way so that once painful feelings, understood with clarity and compassion, cease to be painful and instead become deeply meaningful.  You may find you can increase your capacity to feel joy as well as pain, to feel excitement as well as fear, to be passionate as well as practical, so that you can become the fullest expressions of and expand who you are.   Self Empowered Characteristics
bullet By engaging in Solution Oriented Creative Counselling you learn self-empowerment. When your strengths rather than your deficits are emphasized, you are uplifted. This provides incentive to further your successful efforts, facilitate your own sense of authorship in your life and is therefore the epitome of self-empowerment.
bullet The foundation of S.O. Creative Counselling is solution oriented and combines attention to the eclectic integration of family systems, cognitive-behavioral, gestalt and psychodynamic approaches, using the best aspects of each in a unified therapy. I employ a hybrid of two or more of the psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, existential, strategic/narrative, and solution-oriented approaches, which are explained as follows: The examination of the influence of your past experiences as well as your current psychological, social, familial, cultural status and how they may affect your presenting problem/s, ways of thinking, feeling and behavior. If necessary, unlearning dysfunctional ways of thinking and behaving and learning new, useful ways of thinking and interacting will be accomplished in coaching.  Finally, a thorough exploration of ways to resolve your situation will be taken. While these models guide my work, I am aware that alternate approaches may at times be more effective or appropriate. Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to experience a fresh perspective on personal change, healing, growth, challenges and opportunities; enhanced thinking and decision making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen life and work roles.
bullet If you are experiencing unwanted feelings and behaviors, it is important to identify the thinking that is causing the feelings / behaviors and to learn how to replace this thinking with thoughts that lead to more desirable reactions. Often, the work involves dealing with the fundamental root of the problem which is learning how to 'feel feelings.' Avoiding emotion and feelings result in low self esteem which lead to all sorts of compulsions and obsessions. Below are a few readings of the effects of low self esteem.
